How Big Should a QR Code Be?
QR code size guide: minimum sizes for business cards, flyers, posters and signs, and the 10:1 distance rule.
The 10:1 rule
A QR code should be roughly one-tenth of the scanning distance. If people scan from 1 metre away, make it about 10 cm wide.
Typical sizes
- Business card: 2–2.5 cm
- Flyer or menu: 3–4 cm
- Poster: 8–15 cm
- Shop window or sign: 20 cm and up
Content matters too
More data means smaller squares. Short links and fewer fields let you print smaller codes that still scan reliably.
